Narrated by Carol Willis, Founder & Director for the Skyscraper Museum
Upon completion in 1971 and ‘73, the North and South Tower of the World Trade Center were the tallest and largest skyscrapers in the world. Innovative engineering carried the structures to 110 stories, 1368 and 1362 feet, creating floors an acre in area with more than four million square feet in each building. Designed by Japanese-American architect Minoru Yamasaki, a pair of simple rectangles rising sheer from square bases projected a titanic scale and sculptural power.
